BIOGRAPHY
Belgian-born, Karin (Van Steenlandt) Kuby, spent her childhood years along the chilly, salty shores of the North Sea, in the freshwater waves of the Great Lakes, and on the vast plains of the Dakotas. The stark contrast of these locations provided ample displays of the wonders of light and shadow playing on various surfaces. Most notable to her were, and are, the effects of time. Impacts, both gradual and sudden, stark and subtle. These states; old vs new, weathered vs sheltered, overt vs subdued, boisterous vs reflective, moments caught in a reflection, through a glint of light, in a soft shadow are on display in her photographs.
“I’ve been a treasure seeker all my life, trying to capture the elusive, fleeting, hidden and overlooked. As a child, my treasures ranged from butterflies, newts, and salamanders, to sea glass, sand dollars, and conch shells. Once I traded in my net and pail for a camera I never looked back. My shots are attempts at capturing unexpected miracles lasting just a fleeting moment in time. The joy is in the sheer luck of witnessing them. Prices range from $400 to $1,200 for standard sized prints (16”x16”, 16” x 20”, 20” x 24”, 20” x 30”, 24” x 36”) depending on size and availability.
Each print is one of a limited edition (maximum 50 prints/image). Standard printing is on archival photographic paper. Framing is additional.
